Joint Pain & Inflammation Gel Nutritional Supplement
Joint pain and inflammation can limit one’s ability to work, enjoy any form of recreational activity, play sports and climb stairs, or hills for that matter. It was interesting to have read “YOU Staying Young” by Michael F. Roizen, M.D. and Mehmet C. Oz, M.D. because it gave me clarity as to what aging is all about.
I usually use aging as an excuse for every joint pain and inflammation I feel. The truth of the matter is that, according to them, the rate of a person’s aging depends on what type of maintenance the person does to lower the risk of ALL diseases. And the only way to do this is slowing the rate of aging on the cellular level.
I talked about nutritional supplements that can enhance our immune system, but living an active life becomes necessary, too, and this means moving freely without pain. For about 2 years, I suffered with tendonitis, and my sole temporary relief was a patch of Salonpas on the affected area. But, since it was not a cure, I started taking some Glucosamine tablets. Have you seen those GIANT pills? I have to gulp down a lot of water to take it, and for this reason, I have not been consistent in taking them.
As you know, joint pain and inflammation caused by arthritis results to loss of joint flexibility and cushioned mobility with no easy solutions. There have been many types of pain relievers thrown out into the market like acetaminophen, and non-steroidal anti-flammatory drugs (NSAID’s) to pacify the symptoms of lost mobility. Ultimately, some people resort to an expensive surgery to replace the joints. But many times, surgery provides many active years to the arthritic patient, only to be followed by another joint pain and inflammation problem.
So what can we really do to maintain healthy joints that are flexible and mobile?
Just like an automobile, we need to lubricate them to avoid friction between joints. Joint movement is dependent on muscle attachments, bone end structure, terminal articular cartilage and synovial fluid. What prevents the friction is the articular cartilage, a thick and rubbery growth at the ends of bones. This cartilage is stiffened protein, and can easily be damaged through stress and be worn down just like old, crusty rubber until it starts to crack and chip. Loss of cartilage will eventually lead to increased friction and cause fusion of the two bones. When the joint becomes fused, then there is a total loss in flexibility. Synovial fluid is an egg-consistency fluid that is encased around the joint to provide lubrication and reduce friction. Therefore, the ideal solution for healthy joints is to nourish and preserve the articular cartilage and synovial fluid of all joints.
Joint pain and inflammation can be prevented with good nutrition, but who says we can be perfect? So, we also need nutritional supplementation, but not merely supplementing when arthritic problems occur but continuous supplementing the diet years in advance. Cole Woolley, PhD suggests that to nourish the body against arthritic problems, men would have to start as early as 30 years old and women as early as 40 years old. There have been supplements knows to reduce pain for those in the moderate to major pain categories such as, Glucosamine and Chondroitin. There is also the Celadrin, with the cetylated fatty acids and cetly myristoleate which prove to be beneficial in lubricating and maintaining the health of joint cartilage. Another safe and nutritional source of bioavailable sulfur to maintain joint cartilage integrity and to relieve joint pain is Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM). Well, try saying that five times, and it could make for an excellent tongue twister!
There could be products out there with a combination of one or two of the supplements mentioned in a pill or powder drink form, but FLX is a gel-nutritional formula combining all FOUR ingredients, where they are prehydrated and distributed evenly throughout the micro-environments of the gel matrix. It is definitely a great alternative for the big tablets of Glucosamine I used to take to ease the joint pain and inflammation I experience.
